However, one thing to note is that Evergreen ECM motors cannot be used in place of an existing variable speed furnace motor or to replace an X-13 motor! The other benefit is that Evergreen motors will move more air in systems with slightly undersized duct or where a filtering system has added higher static pressure. With restricted duct or high static pressure a PSC motor will turn the blower wheel at a slower than normal RPM thus delivering lower CFM. ECM motors will increase torque helping to keep the blower wheel moving at the RPM needed to deliver the required CFM. For replacing PSC motors that are ½ HP and less, use the ½ HP Evergreen ECM motor; on PSC motors above ½ HP but not over 1 HP, use the 1 HP Evergreen motor.
