Aprilaire Programmable Thermostats

If you've ever considered improving the indoor air quality inside your home, chances are, the name Aprilaire has come up. If you've consulted with an HVAC guy or simply searched the web on ways to clean up your air, Aprilaire is the name that you'll find plastered all over the media and information super-highway. The name Aprilaire is synonymous with quality and excellence, setting them apart in the indoor air quality world.

I know from my own experience in the industry, I hear the name Aprilaire and I automatically think, "Oh yeah, those are the guys that make humidifiers, air cleaners and air filters." They've been around since 1938. They know what they're doing and they've proven it time and time again with numerous product innovation awards, superior customer support and unsurpassed customer satisfaction with their product.

So, what's the point of this post then? Yes, I'll admit it's to talk up Aprilaire a bit ('cause we like them), but it's also to introduce contractors and homeowners to a side of Aprilaire that they might not know about. Did you know that Aprilaire offers a complete line of non-programmable and programmable thermostats? We're not just talking about some cheap plastic box that sits on your wall with clunky buttons and impossible controls. We're talking intelligent, easy-to-use temperature controls that are powerhouses when it comes to features. Plus, they look so good on your wall that you might just show it off to your friends before you wow them with your 60" flat screen and 7.1 surround system! Oh, let me throw one more plug in for the thermostats... they're quite affordable too, which in today's market makes all the difference.

If I had to narrow down the thermostats that I would most recommend to homeowners and contractors, it comes down to the three listed below. I'll go ahead and provide the model numbers, and I'll throw in a bunch of product literature and links that you can read up on if you would like to learn more.

Aprilaire 8463 - 5/2 or 5/1/1 Day Programmable Thermostat
This model is your affordable, single stage heating, single stage cooling (1H/1C) programmable thermostat. It has a backlit display, built-in user manual, shows maintenance reminders, has a circulate fan mode and is backed by a 5-year warranty.

Aprilaire 8466 - 5/2 or 5/1/1 Day Programmable Thermostat
Step it up a notch with the universal 8466 and you'll get a thermostat that offers two-stage heating, two-stage cooling for a conventional system or, on a heat pump you'll get three-stage heating, two-stage cooling (2H/2C or 3H/2C HP). Same beautiful display, reminders, features, etc. as the 8463, along with the impressive 5-year warranty.

Aprilaire 8600 - All-In-One Touch Screen Programmable Thermostat
Step aside competition, this touch screen thermostat means business! 10.3 square inches of beautiful, backlit, touch screen display, real language built-in setup and manual, maintenance reminders, 5-year warranty and more features packed in to it than I can list on this blog posting!

All that being said, it really does come down to the contractor or homeowner trying out the thermostats for themselves and coming to their own conclusions. If you have used these thermostats or have questions about them, I'd love to read your comments and questions, so please post 'em! I've provided a bunch of literature below in PDF format for those of you that would like to learn more.
